Hands-Free Remote Push-to-Talk Foot Switch

Heavy-Duty Floor-Mounted Mobile Radio PTT Controller

Keep your hands safely on the steering wheel and maintain absolute control over your fleet dispatches with a rugged vehicle floor-mounted PTT pedal switch.

The genuine Motorola RLN4856A is a commercial-grade Motorola RLN4856A Remote Push-to-Talk Foot Switch for CM200D mobile transceivers engineered to maximize driver safety and operating focus. Integrating the Motorola RLN4856A into your commercial or public service vehicle layout allows operators to instantly engage system transmission lines without taking their hands off primary steering controls or heavy machinery joysticks. This vehicle accessory features a heavy-duty mechanical foot pedal actuator designed to withstand repeated hard stomping in rough field environments. The Motorola RLN4856A is the updated version of the Motorola RLN4856.

Perfect for long-haul logistics drivers, waste management operators, public transit captains, and utility repair crews, the Motorola RLN4856A resolves the critical safety hazard of fumbling for a handheld mobile microphone while navigating active traffic or rugged worksites. Hardwiring directly into the accessory port matrix located on the rear chassis of compatible mobile transceivers, it anchors firmly down onto the vehicle’s floorboard. Pairing this remote foot switch assembly with an overhead visor microphone transforms any cab into a completely hands-free, high-productivity mobile workspace. For optimal performance, pair the RLN4856A with the Motorola GMMN4065 omni-directional visor microphone to unlock the full potential of your communication setup.

The durable internal micro-switch mechanism provides crisp tactile and acoustic feedback to ensure the operator knows precisely when the radio line is active. The out-of-the-way floor routing shields the heavy-gauge interface cable from snagging loose gear or interfering with the driver's standard pedal cluster. When installing the component, always route the wire harness away from high-heat zones and moving steering column shafts to prevent mechanical shearing or jacket insulation melting over long-term usage cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this foot switch concurrently with a standard handheld mobile microphone?

Yes, the rear-accessory port mapping generally allows the foot switch to operate parallel to a front-mounted palm mic, meaning you can use the pedal to transmit via an overhead visor mic while leaving the standard palm microphone available for alternative crew use.

Does this foot pedal assembly require specialized programming software to activate?

In most standard mobile radio configurations, the rear accessory pins for external PTT are plug-and-play. However, some advanced models may require checking your radio's customer programming software (CPS) to ensure the accessory port logic is mapped to "External PTT."

Is the housing waterproof enough to handle wet and muddy work boots?

Yes, the Motorola RLN4856A is ruggedized for low-level floor environment deployment, meaning it easily repels mud, water drops, and debris tracked into a vehicle cab. However, it should not be subjected to pressurized washdowns or left submerged in standing water.

Works well
Hasn’t broken unlike our Walmart one that broke on the first use. Very easy to use and not as confusing to use for someone who doesn’t open many cans.

Amazing product that works
Amazing. I had to get used to pressing the steel bar down and turning the crank to pierce the can. It was a little effort to turn the crank, but the end result was worth it. The top of cans came clearly off with no Jagged edges on either the top or the sides. The top can be put back on or discarded.

Sneaky little devil has a mind of it's own...
Warning: This can opener has a mind of its own and may run away from you. Mine disappeared from my kitchen a few days after I bought it. One night it was sitting on the counter, the next morning it was just gone. After 3 weeks hoping it would turn up, I finally gave up and bought a slightly different style (the Joseph Joseph compact handleless style can opener) so that I'll have two choices in case it does ever reappear. At least I only paid $7. I'm all seriousness, I only used this for a week, but it seemed like a nice no-frills can opener that was definitely worh the very lowe price I paid for it. This was my first time buying a can opener of this style (single handle which cuts on the outside of the can's rim), but it was easy and intuitive for me to figure out how to use it. Just remember, when the lid gets stuck to the can opener, twist the handle in the opposite direction and it'll come right off. This is actually a nice intentional feature, but it can be frustrating at first if you aren't used to it. This style of can opener has some tradeoffs with the traditional two-handled opener. Cutting the outside rim of the can leads to a smoother edge on the can and lid, but can also lead to some of the liquid inside the can spilling out. Personally, I think that that's a worthy tradeoff for lower risk of cutting myself and bleeding all over my food, but neither option is perfect so think about which potential frustration you'd rather avoid before you buy, because as far as I know there is no can opener that perfectly solves both problems.

Didn't Know What I Was Missing All This Time
I saw a random video about "safe cut"(or "safety") can openers and comparing them to the traditional can openers that are more known and popular. I was skeptical because it made no sense why something that performed like that wouldn't be the known and popular style of can opener. But I was intrigued enough to try one out and was very happy to see a AmazonBasics option. AmazonBasics proves to be worth the savings more often than not compared to their counterparts. I was happy to take a roll on it. The video was no gimmick, these things are amazing. No more lining up wheels, grip crushing levers, and clunky grinding cranking. No more sharp edges or lids falling into what you want to eat. The clean cut is amazing. Put it in place and start spinning, it grabs and does the job. The lid doesn't fall in. And there's no sharp edges. It's baffling that these aren't the "known" can opener. These are what you should think of when somebody says can opener, not the ones you do. This AmazonBasics Safe Cut Can Opener is built well and I expect it to last for many, many years. MAYBE it can't tackle every can. But I've yet to run into one I can't open with it. Couple that with the ever growing prevalence of manual pull tab cans and my traditional can opener hasn't been touched since I got this a year ago. And hopefully never will. I'm a convert. Safe cut is the right cut!
